On August 22, 2018, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) issued a report related to potential health impacts from ethylene oxide (EO) emissions at Sterigenics’ facility in Willowbrook, Illinois. The report prompted several questions from the community. We take this matter very seriously and also note that our Willowbrook facility achieves and exceeds all compliance requirements set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and Illinois EPA (ILEPA). Sterigenics has a strong record of compliance and we remain committed to ensuring that the EO used to sterilize life-saving medical products at our Willowbrook facility is within permitted levels. Please reference this website for Sterigenics’ latest news, education and resources related to EO.
